[Iwane Zensuiji]
At “Iwane Mountain National Treasure Zensuiji Temple”, one of the three Konan mountains in Konan City, Shiga Prefecture
You can visit the main hall and Buddha statues, which are national treasures and important cultural properties.
It was founded in the same year during the Nara period, and was revived as Zensuiji by the first Denkyo Daishi Saicho Shonin in the early Heian period.
The main hall is a beautiful building with an Irimoya-style cypress bark roof and curved eaves with graceful curves.
Also, the two statues of Nioh on the outpost of the main hall are impressive when they spread their legs powerfully,
Bonten, Taishakuten, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the twelve divine generals are enshrined in the chancel,
Temples with all of these cast members are rare even in the whole country.
Valuable Buddha statues are also lined up in the back hall, and Fudo Myoo in particular is the oldest in the prefecture.
