Iwami Kagura, a traditional performing art passed down through generations, is a ceremonial dance dedicated to the gods dwelling in nature to pray for abundant harvests and bountiful catches. Watching night kagura will be a solemn and precious experience. The workshops of the "artisans" who support kagura are also must-see attractions.
Course Content
[Private Tour for One Group Only] A dedicated vehicle with tourism association staff and interpreter will accompany and guide your tour.
[Night Kagura Performance] The main deity of Oomatsu Iwatobiko Shrine (commonly known as Sangu Shrine) in Aioi-cho, Hamada City, is Amenotajikarao-no-mikoto. You will watch two Iwami Kagura performances in the precincts of Sangu Shrine. After viewing, commemorative photo sessions with the performers are also possible. This is a traditional performing art that Japan takes pride in, scheduled to perform at the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
[Dinner Included] While watching Iwami Kagura, you will enjoy the "OROCHI Bento" - a specially made lunch box modeled after a great serpent. We also provide "sacred sake" which is said to bring divine blessings.[Kagura Workshop] You can observe the production process of each component: kagura masks made from Sekishu washi paper used in Iwami Kagura, gorgeously embroidered and decorated costumes, and serpent bodies made from bamboo and washi paper. Interaction with the artisans is possible, and some items are available for purchase.
[Accommodation] Kakurega Yukari Grand opening in April 2024 A Japanese-style inn with a luxurious and calm atmosphere. You can relax in Japanese-Western style rooms with open-air baths. Yukata selection is available for use within the facility. Breakfast is served from 8:00 AM at the restaurant - Japanese-style boxed meal sets.
