【Hiruzen Jersey Land】
With its magnificent nature and a variety of tourist attractions, the Hiruzen Plateau is one of the most popular highland resorts in western Japan. There are many places to visit, including Hiruzen Jersey Land, where you can see cute Jersey cows grazing on the pasture as well as enjoying meals and shopping at restaurants and stores; Hiruzen Winery, where wine is brewed from home-grown mountain grapes; Hiruzen Herb Garden and Herbville, where lavender, herbs, and seasonal plants are cultivated; etc.
The area also offers a wide variety of activities that can be enjoyed in nature, such as camping and cycling. Visitors can also enjoy gourmet foods unique to Hiruzen, such as sweets and dairy products made from Jersey milk, Hiruzen yakisoba and jingisukan (Japanese mutton barbecue).

【Greenable Hiruzen】
GREENable HIRUZEN, a facility established to promote the value of sustainability awareness to a wider audience, opened in Hiruzen Kogen, Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture, on July 15, 2021. This facility, designed and supervised by architect Kengo Kuma, was relocated from a wooden building once utilized in Harumi, Tokyo.
The relocatable building, which cannot be done with conventional concrete construction, is a symbol of the brand as a decarbonized and sustainable building, as well as a representation of the exchange of resources and culture between the city and the countryside.
The facility consists of a visitor center and shopping area selling goods that enable visitors to practice sustainability; the Hiruzen Museum in Maniwa City, which promotes art and culture; a cycling center offering experiential programs; and the CLT pavilion “Kaze no Ha” (Leaves of the Wind).
【Katsuyama Old Townscape】
Katsuyama prospered as an inn town along the Izumo Highway. Even today, the old white-walled storehouses, merchant houses with lattice windows, and old streets still remain, which led Katsuyama to be the first town in Okayama Prefecture to be designated as a “townscape preservation district.
Nowadays, “noren” (traditional Japanese curtains) have become a symbol of Katsuyama, attracting the eyes of tourists throughout the town. The remains of the departure and arrival points for Takase-bune boats, which originated in the Muromachi period (1333-1573), can still be seen along the Asahikawa River for approximately 700 m. The landscape of cobble stone piles and white walls is a reminder of the bustle of the old days.
【Roadside station Daigo no Sato】
This roadside station is close to the Hokubou Interchange and the Daigo cherry tree, the most famous cherry tree in the prefecture that has been designated as one of the 100 best trees in Japan and a natural monument by Okayama Prefecture. In addition to a wide selection of locally produced fresh vegetables and goods, brochures and other information on sightseeing in the area are also available.
