At Hoei Ryokan, you will enjoy a Japanese breakfast centered on the local cuisine of Fukui (called okozai), which has been eaten at the Jodo Shinshu Buddhist sect (Ho-onko) event that is rooted in Fukui. (Ho-onko is a week-long memorial event which pays respect to the founder of the sect.)

After the meal, you will be guided through Yokokan Garden, which is located a 3-minute walk from Hoei Ryokan. Yokokan Garden is a ‘stroll garden’ with a lake, adjoining a sukiya ‘traditional tearoom’ style villa, and it is one of the famous gardens which is representative of the early to mid-Edo period.
