Sports yabusame is a competition in which yabusame, an ancient Japanese martial art, can be enjoyed safely by men and women of all ages by shooting arrows at the enemy from a horse and competing for points. The jockey shoots arrows from the top of a horse that runs through at maximum speed, so it's full of speed, power, and dignity. Horse gear and jockey costumes are also elegant and old-fashioned.

It has been known as a horse-growing area since ancient times, and in “Towada City, Aomori Prefecture,” which lists the “Village of Koma,” efforts have been made to spread yabusame as a tourist resource by holding world-class competitions such as the “Sakura Yabusame” and “World Yabusame Championships,” and the culture as a sacred place for sports yabusame has also taken root.

In this program, at horseback riding clubs in Towada City, mainly for beginners and tourists, they can practice how to hit Japanese bows and experience horse riding with a yabusame horse, and experience horse riding on a yabusame horse, and experience the feeling of being a competitive athlete.

1. Explanation of the history of Yabusame and Towada City (20 minutes)

2. Instruction and experience on how to use a bow and arrow (20 minutes)

　Using Japanese bows used in competitions, you will experience it while receiving explanations on the differences from archery and tips for shooting.

3. Pull-horse riding experience (20 minutes)
