- At Enryaku-ji Temple, visit a place where Japanese Buddhism has been practiced for 1200 years. You can experience the spiritual world of Buddhism in the tranquil precincts.
- In Sakamoto, you will visit “Kyu-Chikurin-in,” famous for its moss garden and a stroll-style garden with a pond, and “Hiyoshi Taisha,” the head shrine of Hiyoshi, Hie, and Sanno Shrines across Japan.
- Other highlights include the stone walls built in the Ano-shu style, considered the origin of Japanese stone masonry techniques, and the historic townscape.
- Between Sakamoto and Enryakuji Temple, you will take “Sakamoto Cable”, the longest cable car in Japan. You can enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Biwa from the train windows.
