Welcome to the Ikebana Experience, where you’ll explore the traditional aesthetics of Japanese flower arrangement.
This experience is designed to help you enjoy a variety of ikebana styles by first mastering the basics—even without special flowers or vases. Once you’ve learned the fundamentals, you’ll be able to casually enjoy ikebana at home using everyday flowers, even after returning to your own country.
Your instructor, a Sogetsu school master with over 30 years of experience, will share not only the history and philosophy of ikebana, but also the techniques and deeper appeal that make this art form so unique. Through the session, you’ll gain insights into Japan’s aesthetic values and the subtle beauty found in daily life.
During the hands-on portion of the class, you’ll create your own ikebana work. Afterward, we’ll take commemorative photos of your arrangement. If you wish, we can also send you a copy of the presentation slides used during the lecture so you can revisit what you’ve learned and deepen your understanding of ikebana.

1. Welcome & Instructor Introduction
We begin by warmly welcoming all participants. The instructor will introduce themselves, share their background, and talk about their passion for ikebana. The session will start in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
2. Lecture
Using slides with photos and illustrations, the instructor will explain key aspects of Japanese culture, the history of ikebana, and the tools used in the art. You’ll also learn about the basic forms and characteristics of ikebana, which will help you visualize the process before creating your own arrangement.
3. Hands-on Ikebana Experience
Now it’s your turn to create your own ikebana piece under the instructor’s guidance. You’ll receive careful support on how to handle flowers and branches, as well as ikebana-specific techniques and composition tips. Even complete beginners can enjoy this experience with confidence.
4. Photo Time & Casual Conversation
Once your arrangement is complete, we’ll take commemorative photos of your work. Afterward, you’re invited to relax and chat freely. Feel free to ask questions about Japanese culture—including food and traditions—and we’d love to hear stories from your country as well.
