Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museu
Tsuruga Port, which served as a hub for transportation to Europe from the Meiji period to the early Showa period, has a history of Polish orphans landing there in the 1920s and Jewish refugees carrying “life visas” in the 1940s.
The museum offers an easy-to-understand tour of the history of Polish orphans and Jewish refugees who overcame many hardships to arrive in Tsuruga, including episodes from those days, testimonies from Tsuruga citizens, and heartwarming exchanges with people involved that continue today, through a theater, animation, and digital materials.
